MAYORS, A COMPANY OF BIRKS GROUP, INC., WORLD-CLASS BRAND WITH HEART

Birks Group, Inc. has a long history of community involvement in both Canada and the United States. Hundreds of charities and a variety of fundraising programs have been the beneficiaries of its gracious support.

COMMITMENT TO THE KIMBERLEY PROCESS

Since 1879, Birks Group, Inc. has set the standard across Canada for quality diamonds providing meticulous grading and was also among the first to support and work with the Kimberley process insuring the integrity of the diamond supply chain.

The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme is an agreement to eliminate the trade of conflict diamonds. Conflict diamonds (also called blood diamonds) are those mined in a war zone and sold, usually clandestinely, to finance armed conflict and civil wars.

SUSTAINABLE PRECIOUS METALS

Birks Group, Inc. exceeds the Green Gold standard by sourcing most of our gold directly from mines that adhere to “best practices” in their mining operations, including ecologically sound procedures and responsible socio-economic mining practices. This chain of custody sourcing ensures that our precious metals are ethically and environmentally responsible, and that the mines are preserved and restored to their natural state. Each year, through our ethical sourcing practices, Birks Group, Inc. prevents at least 500,000 tons of earth from being mined.

BIRKS GROUP INC. ENDORSES NO DIRTY GOLD CAMPAIGN

Birks Group, Inc. also endorses the No Dirty Gold campaign’s Golden Rules, a set of social, environmental, and human rights principles to guide more responsible gold production. The No Dirty Gold campaign is aimed at reforming destructive mining practices and is led by the international relief and development organization Oxfam America and the environmental organization EARTHWORKS.

Very rarely, do you get the opportunity to work with such positive, kind and generally good people. My colleagues make it a joy to come to work, because they make tough days easier. I feel so lucky to work at Mayors!  We truly treat each other as family, and each do our part to achieve our common goal!
